Singapore - Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus
protection, having established its regional headquarters in
Singapore, steps up its activities by participating in the
Information Security World (Asia) exhibition in Singapore on April
16-18.
Sophos's products are specifically designed to detect and
eliminate computer viruses in the enterprise, where central control
and deployment is essential. An acclaimed leader in this market,
the InfoWorld Test Centre (March Edition) rated Sophos as the
'clear winner' for security, performance, technical support and
multi-platform support.
On show will be Sophos's flagship product Sophos Anti-Virus and
a new product, MailMonitor which scans incoming and outgoing mail.
This is a gateway anti-virus solution specifically developed for
Microsoft Exchange 2000, Notes and SMTP servers. It provides users
of large and medium enterprises with high-performance and reliable
protection against more than 73,000 computer viruses, worms and
trojans.
Sophos will also introduce its Singapore consulting and systems
integration partners. They include IT Security Asia, iSi Dentsu,
Lanworks, Systems Design and Taskcon. From Taiwan, will be Sophos's
new OEM partner, Hgiga Inc., whose MailSherlock product, a mail
protector system, incorporates the Sophos Anti-Virus Interface
(SAVI).
"Today, enterprise network security is uppermost on every CIO's
mind," said Charles Cousins, managing director of Sophos Anti-Virus
Asia. "Reliable protection against millions of computer viruses is
a crucial part of every security solution. That's why Sophos has
opened operations in Asia and has chosen to participate in this key
exhibition together with our partners."
The battle between anti-virus companies and virus writers is
similar to a chess game, with both sides trying to outwit each
other. Developing anti-virus software is an intense exercise
requiring unrivalled depth of knowledge and mental dexterity, just
like a Grand Master chess player. To illustrate this at the
exhibition, Sophos will have an outstanding guest, Wu Shao Bin, a
chess Grand Master and Singapore National Champion at the show.
Visitors to the Sophos stand are invited to pit their skills
against Master Wu who will play up to 3 challengers simultaneously.
Furthermore on Day 3, April 18th, Singapore's junior master,
Christer Aplin will display his chess mastery, taking on
challengers from the floor.
The Sophos stand at the Information SecurityWorld (Asia)
exhibition is 4B07, Hall 404, Suntec Exhibition and Convention
Centre.
