Move is expected to raise awareness on anti-virus measures
among corporations in Taiwan
Taipei, Taiwan - Sophos Anti-Virus, a world leader in corporate
anti-virus protection, has enhanced its position as a key
anti-virus vendor with the appointment of three technology partners
and three business partners to market its award-winning product
suite in Taiwan. This strategic move will provide corporations in
Taiwan with advanced alternative anti-virus solutions from
Sophos.
Sophos's new technology partners in Taiwan are: HGiga Ltd,
Box-Solution Corp., and Softnext Technologies. By bundling Sophos
technology into their software, they will be able to market
ready-to-use corporate solutions capable of combatting virus
attacks immediately.
Sophos will also be appointing three new business partners in
Taiwan, namely Theta Network Technology, Asia Sys Ltd and eRexi
Ltd, who will join Lansir Information Co. Ltd, Sophos's existing
business partner since January 2001, to offer corporations Sophos's
suite of anti-virus products. The enterprise solutions will be
targeted at all levels of businesses, MNCs, Education Institutions,
Utilities and Government sectors.
According to the 7th Annual Virus Prevalence Survey conducted by
the ICSA Labs in 2001, the rate of malicious code infection will
continue to rise. Other findings showed that computer viruses were
more prevalent, costly, destructive and caused more real damage to
data and systems than in the past. File corruption and data loss
are also becoming much more common.
"The results of the survey indicate that there is a need to
enhance anti-virus measures amongst organizations and Sophos is
firmly committed to raising the level of awareness among
corporates. Our technology partnerships will also ensure that
organizations enjoy the most effective protection available," said
Charles Cousins, Managing Director of Sophos Asia. "Furthermore,
through our business partners, we are able to benefit from their
local expertise to educate users on the virus threat and offer
solutions to combat them."
Sophos will provide extensive support to seven partners
including training and sales tools to enable them to advise
customers on safe anti-virus practice, marketing assistance, and
access to a Business Partner website, where they will be able to
secure information and technical support. Sophos also supports
partner sales efforts by managing all aspects of software
subscriptions directly, advising partners of customers' license
expiry and automatically emailing details of the latest virus
identities to end users.
