In a comparison of four leading antivirus solutions, InfoWorld's
Test Center selected Sophos Anti-Virus as the top performer,
finding it to be the most innovative product and providing the
strongest security for companies wanting to protect their corporate
networks.
The comparative review also included McAfee Total Virus Defense
Suite, Norton Corporate Edition and F-Secure Anti-Virus.
According to InfoWorld's reviewer, Mandy Andress, Sophos
Anti-Virus "boasts an excellent scanning engine, thanks largely to
its InterCheck technology, which helps the Sophos client run full
system scans with almost no discernible impact on system
performance. In our tests, we were able to run virus scans and
simultaneously access applications and perform regular user
functions with no delay."
Sophos Anti-Virus was also distinguished by its cross-platform
effectiveness: "Sophos excels in its OS support, providing clients
for Windows, Unix, Linux and Macintosh to name a few".
The InfoWorld Test Center praised the quality of Sophos's
"responsible, knowledgable technical support".
The review concluded: "Finally, for the strongest security, best
performance, technical support, and support for the most desktop
platforms, Sophos is the clear winner."
