Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, today
announced that its virus scanning technology has been selected for
use in the NTTPC Communications' shared server hosting service,
WebARENA Suite, to protect NTTPC customers against computer viruses
and other malicious code. NTTPC Communications is one of the
largest internet service providers in Japan.
Sophos Anti-Virus will be used on the NTTPC Communications'
WebARENA Suite server to scan all email for over 70,000 computer
viruses, worms and Trojan horses. If an infected attachment is
detected, the sender and the recipient are automatically notified
and the email blocked. Sophos will also advise NTTPC Communications
on the latest virus threats as they emerge.
"Sophos Anti-Virus is the ideal choice because of its consistent
detection rates, low false positive ratings and flexibility of
use," said Hiromitsu Honda, Executive Vice President Network
Services of NTTPC Communications. "We were also impressed by the
oustanding support and speed of response offered by Sophos."
"Security is one of the top priorities for all companies, and
users are demanding more from their security solutions" said Alan
Broderick, Managing Director of Sophos KK in Japan. "We are
delighted that NTTPC Communications have identified Sophos as best
fulfilling both their needs and those of the customer."
The new virus scanning service adds an essential layer of
protection to large corporatations, small businesses and individual
