Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, has
announced today that its software has been chosen by MetroNet, one
of the longest established internet service providers. MetroNet has
selected Sophos's world-leading anti-virus technology to provide
protection for users of its Port995 advanced email service.
The Sophos virus engine will perform essential virus checking on
users incoming and outgoing email within the Port995 solution. The
service allows users to create and manage their own email accounts,
offering advanced blocking and filtering techniques as well as
protection against the latest computer viruses and worms.
"Sophos Anti-Virus provides exceptional detection rates coupled
with ease of integration and faultless reliability," said Paresh
Morjaria, General Manager at MetroNet. "This partnership allows us
to deliver a solution that is both flexible and secure to our many
customers."
"Increasingly viruses are transmitting themselves via email in
an attempt to distribute themselves further," said Graham Cluley,
senior technology consultant for Sophos Anti-Virus. "We are
delighted to see that MetroNet has recognised the quality of
Sophos's solution and integrated our technology into their product.
This is an excellent product for internet users concerned with
protecting themselves against viruses which attack data,
credibility and confidentiality."
Under the Port995 system, all email addresses are controlled by
a central account holder who can create multiple email accounts and
administer blocking, filtering and virus protection as required.
Each account is fully scalable, providing a uniquely flexible
solution for both business and home users.
MetroNet is the latest in a long line of software companies,
appliance manufacturers, ISPs and ASPs choosing to integrate
Sophos's powerful virus-finding technology with their software and
services. Sophos's anti-virus capabilities can be easily combined
with firewalls, email servers, encryption devices and other
security-related devices.
