Move strengthens company's technical and customer support operations

Sophos Anti-Virus, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, has transferred its Head of Global Support, Paul Ducklin, to the Australian operation.

In a move that will strengthen Sophos both globally and in Australia, Paul Ducklin -- arguably one of the world's foremost authorities on viruses and other malicious code -- will oversee Sophos's worldwide support team from the company's Sydney office.

Sophos is the only major anti-virus vendor in Australia to have appointed such a high-calibre international manager to the critical role of support.

"Software is only one part of virus protection," Ducklin says. "Support and education are equally important in keeping the virus threat at bay."

Sophos Australia's Managing Director, Richard Baldry, says Ducklin's transfer was based on the company's recognition of Australia's strategic position in the global fight against viruses.

"Paul's relocation will help enormously in our efforts to educate and advise organisations throughout the region," Baldry says. "Australia's technical savvy and demand for solutions that work mean our global customer support operations will be enhanced by the application of some straight-talking Australian common sense."

Baldry says he is delighted to have Ducklin in Sydney. "His enthusiasm, energy and in-depth knowledge of viruses will make Sophos Australia the pre-eminent anti-virus software vendor in the Asia-Pacific region," he says.
