US industry expert leaves Lotus for world's leading anti-virus
developer
Sophos Anti-Virus, the world's leading developer of corporate
virus protection, is continuing to strengthen its position at the
leading edge of the anti-virus industry with the expansion of its
team of directors.
Jan Hruska, formerly technical director and Peter Lammer,
formerly managing director will take on the role of chief executive
officers. Their responsibilities will include strategy,
recruitment, operations and infrastructure as the company and its
subsidiaries continue their rapid growth.
Mark Forrest, sales and marketing director and Peter Norman,
non-executive director are joined by Richard Jacobs, technical
director while David Hughes takes up the key role as president of
Sophos's US subsidiary. Hughes joins from the Lotus Development
division of the IBM Corporation where, as vice president of
strategy, he was involved at the forefront of change, playing an
important role in defining the initial sales integration strategy
after Lotus was acquired by IBM in 1995.

Hughes spent twelve years at Lotus and brings a wealth of
expertise in sales, marketing and strategy and extensive experience
in leading high performance teams to his new role, which will see
him taking overall control of the company's North American and
Canadian activities.
Richard Jacobs, formerly managing director of Sophos's
subsidiary in the US, will take up the post of technical director.
Jacobs, who has worked at Sophos since 1989, has over ten years
experience in software development and was a key contributor to the
software development program in the UK.
Sophos Anti-Virus's global business has grown by over 200% in
the last year due to an unprecedented increase in sales in over 120
countries. To accommodate the company's huge growth, Sophos is
recruiting over 100 new staff in its technical, sales and marketing
departments this financial year and will build an additional
high-security research and development centre, totalling over
150,000 square feet in Abingdon, UK.
