WOBURN, MA - Sophos Inc., a leading developer of
network-oriented anti-virus software, today announced the
certification of its product, Sophos Anti-Virus (SAV) for the Alpha
version of Win NT, by the International Computer Security
Association (ICSA).
SAV is the first anti-virus product for the Alpha version of Win
NT to receive ICSA certification. This reflects Sophos's ongoing
commitment to service the broadest range of platforms, making SAV
the top choice for corporations with diverse networks.
ICSA-certified products must meet rigorous testing standards and
are considered the most secure products available. In order to be
certified, SAV has to detect 100% of the viruses listed as "In The
Wild," 100% of ICSA's Polymorphic Test Suite and 90% of the ICSA
Virus Collection.
"Sophos is thrilled about the ICSA certification, but it does
not come as a surprise," said Richard Jacobs, president of Sophos,
Inc. "Sophos invests a great deal of research into anti-virus
protection to ensure that our clients are secure. This
certification is a reflection of our commitment to attaining a 100%
virus-detection level."
SAV provides true cross-platform protection in a single, fully
integrated product set that detects, prevents and eliminates
viruses automatically. Sophos's unique client-server architecture
maximizes protection, while minimizing performance and
administrative overhead. It is fully scalable, protecting a single
PC, a single LAN, or an entire enterprise and is available for all
popular desktop and network operating systems.
To keep its customers continuously protected, Sophos sends an
updated version of SAV to its customers the first week of every
month. The product's installation is quick and painless, as clients
are updated automatically whenever a more recent version of the
software is detected on the network.
"We've been using SAV for about a year now on our NT network,
and I have been very pleased with the results. Our viral infection
rate has dropped dramatically," said Mark Kaynor, director of IT
for Draper Aden Associates. "It is easy to implement and maintain
and I really like the centralized distribution and configuration
features. We evaluated several other "mainstream" anti-virus
solutions before we settled on SAV. We're all glad we did."
