Sophos appoints new research team to identify
potential threats and deliver innovative solutions.
Sophos has appointed a new research team to act as anti-virus
evangelists, spreading the word about security and virus
threats.
Paul Ducklin, who previously held the post of Technical Manager,
will lead the team as Sophos's new Head of Research. His
appointment comes in response to the increasingly diverse virus
threat and draws on his decade of international experience in the
virus industry. His new role will see him spearheading the
company's investigative research effort as the development and
analysis teams move into Sophos's new £2 million R&D
facility.
"Paul has been with Sophos since 1995," said Jan Hruska,
Technical Director at Sophos. "His expertise on a whole range of
key anti-virus issues is recognised not just within Sophos but in
the industry world-wide. He is a widely sought-after speaker
because of his incisive knowledge, his vast experience and unique
insight into the industry."
Ducklin's strategic consultancy will be supported by the newly
promoted Software Development Manager, Cliff Penton, who moves up
to manage development of Sophos's flagship product, Sophos
Anti-Virus. At the same time, Matt Holdcroft is promoted to
Software Production Manager to add a further level of control to
the already stringent quality assurance process.
"All three promotions are a measure of Sophos's commitment to
constant development and steady growth," says Ducklin. "The fact
that all three new roles are being filled from within the company
indicates the massive expertise which exists in-house and explains
our continued place at the forefront of the anti-virus
industry."
