For new customers, please visit: www.astaro.com/freetrial ----------------------------------------- How Do I Install Astaro Security Gateway? ----------------------------------------- You may install Astaro Security Gateway in two different instances: 1. As a software appliance, either on a dedicated Intel compatible PC or within a virtual environment. 2. As a VMWare virtual appliance If you want to use the software appliance, your hardware needs to comply with following minimum hardware requirements: 1.5+ GHz processor 1 GB RAM 20 GB hard disk Bootable CD-ROM 2 or more network cards For using the virtual appliance, you need: 1 GB RAM 40 GB IDE or SCSI hard disk drive 3 PCI-NICs (Internet, Local Net, Demilitarized Zone) ------------------------------- Installing the Software Appliance ------------------------------- Please note: The Astaro Appliance contains its own operating system and will overwrite all data on the computer during the installation process. Therefore, a separate, dedicated computer is needed. 1. Burn the ISO image onto a CD. 2. Insert CD and boot the firewall PC from the CD-ROM drive. 3. Follow the on-screen installation instructions. The URL will be shown in the final step of the installation. 4. Point your browser to the web-based configuration tool (aka WebAdmin). 5. Follow the wizard in order to setup basic configurations. ------------------------------- Installing the Virtual Appliance ------------------------------- The Astaro Virtual Appliance for VMWare is preinstalled and preconfigured for VMWare environments and can run on every system which has a VMware Player, VMware Workstation, VMware Server or VMware ESX. 1. Download the VMware image. For use with ESX/i servers, a performance optimized ESX-ISO should be used. 2. Extract the files in your VMware product and boot it. 3. Start your virtual machine and open the image. 4. Open the configuration tool "Webadmin" in your browser. 5. Follow the instructions in order to set up the basic configurations. 6.
