Windows 95/98/Me and Windows NT/2000/XP
To remove the Trojan and the application it installs, do as follows.
You must stop the winsrv32.exe process before you can delete the file. If the application is running, this file will be locked. Use the Windows Task Manager to stop it.
Windows 95/98/Me
- press Ctrl+Alt+Del
- look for a process named winsrv32 in the list
- click on this process to highlight it
- click the 'End Task' button
- check for any other instances of winsrv32 and end them too.
Windows NT/2000/XP
- press Ctrl+Alt+Del
- click the 'Task Manager' button
- choose the 'Processes' tab
- look for a process named winsrv32.exe in the list
- click on the process to highlight it
- click the 'End Process' button
- check for any other instances of winsrv32.exe and end them too.
Then use Sophos Anti-Virus to remove the Trojan files. Read the instructions for removing trojans.
Check for the following files and delete them if present:
C:\DRG.EXE
C:\Program Files\win32.dll
C:\Program Files\winsrv32.exe
To change your Home page in Internet Explorer, select Tools|Internet Options. In the Homepage section change the home page.
You should purge System Restore in Windows Me and Windows XP.
You should install the Microsoft patch by following the link above or by visiting Windows update.
Other platforms
On other platforms you should follow the instructions for removing Trojans.
