Issue

Virtualization Scan Controller Version 1.0 fails to send 'ScanNow' request to computers when using Enterprise Console 5.2.0 and auditing is enabled.

First seen in

Enterprise Console 5.2.0

Cause

Interface changes to support auditing prevent the scan controller accessing the management service.

What To Do

To enable version 1.0 of Virtualization Scan Controller to work with 5.2.0, you must disable auditing.

If you want to use Virtualization Scan Controller with Enterprise Console 5.2.0 with auditing enabled, you must upgrade the Virtualization Scan Controller to version 2.0.  To do so:

  1. If you have been using Virtualization Scan Controller 1.0:
    1. Back up your configuration file or copy it to a safe location. You can reapply it after you have upgraded Virtualization Scan Controller.
    2. Uninstall Virtualization Scan Controller 1.0 as described in the Virtualization Scan Controller user guide.
  2. Download the Virtualization Scan Controller 2.0 files, and extract them to the computer where you have Enterprise Console installed. By default, the files are extracted into the folder C:\svsc_20.
  3. Download Sophos.Management.Helpers.dll to the Sophos Virtualization Scan Controller directory created in the previous step.
  4. Open command prompt and set the current directory to the Sophos Virtualization Scan Controller directory and run the following command:

    %WINDIR%\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v4.0.30319\RegAsm.exe Sophos.Management.Helpers.dll /tlb /codebase

You are now ready to install Virtualization Scan Controller 2.0 which will work with Enterprise Console 5.2.0 with auditing enabled.
