When troubleshooting Sophos Update Manager (SUM) update failures it may be necessary to test the download of individual files (for example if a specific file appears to be the cause of the download failure). This article details the addresses used by SUM and how to download specific files.

Applies to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

Sophos Update Manager

What To Do

There are several addresses Sophos Update Manager can download files from and different locations will contain different files:

  • http://d1.sophosupd.com and http://d1.sophosupd.net are for binaries
  • http://d2.sophosupd.com and http://d2.sophosupd.net are for IDE files

An example path to a file (.dat binary) is...

An example path to a file (.dat IDE) is...

Note: The important point is that same file on d1 would not be found on d2.

When testing specific file downloads, use the information from the SUM logs to determine which .dat file may be an issue and modify the above example addresses accordingly.
