Question

When inserting an Aladdin eToken at pre-boot authentication level, the token is not recognized.

Answer

Please check the following BIOS settings of the machine in question:

- Make sure the setting for PNP OS is set to AUTO. If not, change the setting, reboot the machine and try again.
- Enable the BIOS setting for USB LEGACY Support.

Alternatively, this might be related to the chipset of the machine in use. In case the uses an Intel Calpella chipset, it is not possible to use tokens on this machine with SafeGuard Easy version 4.x. For further information, please have a look at our knowledgebase article 111199

Hint:
On some special devices (e.G. IBM / Lenovo Thinkpad T43, T60), the eToken is not detected in the PBA, if the token was not already plugged in when the machine was switched on. Furthermore, make sure, the correct PBA is in place. As of version 4.50. of SafeGuard Easy, you can use a tool called "Reppba.exe" to verify this. The tool is stored on the product CD within the folder "TOOLS".
