What shall I do if the message "Press Space to blank the screen" appears?
SafeGuard Easy was in the process of encrypting the machine that has one normal hard disk (C:\) and one other hard disk connected to aUSB port, identified as unit D:\.
The encryption of the C:\ disk was completed and the encryption of D:\ was still going on. For some reason, the computer was restarted at this point. After restarting the computer, you are prompted to enter a user ID. Confirming the login data, the message "Press Space to blank the screen" is displayed.
In cases where an external hard disk drive (e.g. via USB) is connected to the computer during SafeGuard Easy encryption, this process must not be interrupted (e.g. by a reboot). Especially, if the USB hard disk was not recognized by the BIOS.
There should be no further steps be executed in order to get access to the system. Instead, please contact Sophos support
- The data on the USB disk cannot be recovered.
- To analyze the chances to get access to the data on the internal hard drive again, please contact your Utimaco Support Center.
