Note: changes to the content or scheduling of these releases will not compromise your protection.
These releases relate to the underlying threat detection software that we use, and may include updates to:
- the Sophos Anti-Virus software
- the threat (virus) engine
- threat (virus) data
To check which versions are installed on your computers, refer to the following product specific articles:
SAV for Windows, SAV for Mac, SAV for UNIX/Linux, How to check the version from the console.
Release dates for monthly updates
Monthly updates are now being rolled out over the month, rather than all being released on one day. Some customers will receive their updates early in the month, and some will receive them later. This means that you may not see the latest versions on your system immediately. This article lists the versions being rolled out during the current calendar month.
For details about the software subscriptions, including the Preview packages, as they apply to Enterprise Console v 5.2.1 and above, see KB 119216.
Detailed information about the monthly update for your product
This is listed in the product release notes - view these by clicking the links in the 'Version' column in the table below.
Note: These monthly maintenance releases are distinct and separate from the frequent updates to the IDE files, which are the files that contain threat identities, and which may be released throughout each day in response to newly discovered threats. For further information about IDEs see KB 10350.
Endpoint Security Products - current versions
Threat (virus) engine and Threat (virus) data versions:
Virus Engine 3.48
Virus Data 4.95
Additional changes/retirements taking place this month:
The ongoing retirement process for ESC 9.5 for Windows, SAV for AIX 4 and SAV for Free BSD 6 means that if you are subscribed to those packages you will continue to see a message in your console warning of this impending retirement.
If you have an enterprise licence and you are using v7 of the managed SAV for Unix/Linux product, and you are subscribed to the 'Recommended' release tag you will have your managed endpoints upgraded from v7 to v9. If you are using 'Extended_Maintenance_Recommended' you will not be upgraded to v9, but will receive an upgrade to v7.6.5.
