BOSTON - January 11, 2010 - IT security and control firm Sophos
announced today that its flagship solution, Sophos Endpoint
Security and Control, is an InfoWorld Technology of the Year Awards
winner. This honor is the direct result of the product earning the
highest score in the February 2009 "Endpoint Security Shootout,"
outscoring the other vendor solutions from Symantec, McAfee, Trend
Micro and Check Point.
Selected by InfoWorld Test Center editors and reviewers, the
annual awards identify the best and most innovative products on the
IT landscape. In recognizing Sophos Endpoint Security and Control,
Test Center Reviewer Keith Schultz declared the product as a
"complete system that works together to protect from viruses and
malware, allows admins to define a network access control policy,
provides for application whitelisting, and can lock down local
devices to help prevent data leakage via USB drives and the like."
The reviewer concluded that "Sophos's combination of broad client
support, strong security services, ease of administration and
well-rounded reporting set it apart."
"We couldn't be more pleased to receive this coveted honor from
InfoWorld," said Sophos CEO Steve Munford. "To be named the top
endpoint security suite validates Sophos's mission in providing the
most comprehensive endpoint security that is simple to deploy and
manage."
As today's businesses want to solve more problems with their
existing anti-virus budget, Sophos added a range of data protection
functionality to Sophos Endpoint Security and Control throughout
2009. The upgraded solution, Sophos Endpoint Security and Data
Protection, now includes full-disk encryption (integrated in June
2009), device control, application control, and data leakage
prevention (integrated in October 2009) - all managed from a
single, simplified dashboard.
