Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 7.0 won the gold medal in the antimalware category of Information Security and SearchSecurity.com's annual Readers' Choice Awards. Sophos's flagship endpoint offering was lauded for its "speedy and frequent signature updates" and for its "effectiveness in detecting, blocking and clearing up malware, as well as its reporting and alerting capabilities."

Information Security and SearchSecurity.com editors surveyed more than 1,600 readers on 360 security products across 18 categories. Respondents rated products, based on category-specific criteria, on a scale of one (poor) to five (excellent), and each criterion was given a weighted percentage, reflecting its importance in that category. Notably, one criterion, "Investment ROI - are you getting your money's worth?" was common across all product categories.

Editors determined a product's overall score by calculating the average score it received for each set of criteria, applying the weighted percentage and adding the adjusted scores. And in each category, the product earning the highest overall score received the gold medal. Award winners are profiled in the April issue of Information Security and on SearchSecurity.com.

"We are truly honored to win 'Gold' in the Readers' Choice Awards since they reflect real-world value and customer satisfaction," said John Shaw, Director of Endpoint Security and Control at Sophos. "To be recognized by the readers of Information Security and SearchSecurity.com validates our mission in delivering comprehensive, cost-effective and easy-to-deploy computer protection solutions to enterprises worldwide."

Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 7.0 delivers cross-platform preventive security and control for desktops, laptops, file servers and mobile devices. Last month, the company added network access control (NAC) functionality to its flagship product, announcing the industry's first fully unified endpoint security and NAC solution.

Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 8.0 integrates antivirus, antispyware, host intrusion prevention, application control, NAC and firewall protection in one product, providing business with complete protection from viruses and malware. Additionally, it ensures all managed, unmanaged and guest computers are up-to-date with company policies and running authorized software applications. Incorporating core policy control and assessment capabilities, Sophos Endpoint Security and Control 8.0 obviates the need for deployment of a separate agent, or additional software license costs.
