Competitive Research Analyst (Gateway Solutions)

Role
As a Competitive Research Analyst, you will provide analysis on competitive companies, products and markets, specifically for gateway solutions. You will also produce your findings in various formats with specific commentary and recommendations for internal and external groups including sales and marketing, product management and development, executive management and partners. The successful applicant will report to the VP, Product Management – Gateway Solution.
This position is based at our Canadian office in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Main duties
- Conduct and co-ordinate product, marketing and related research on competitive vendors
- Develop and maintain competitive evaluation criteria, product procurement, and installation, testing and reporting in various formats to support the needs of different constituents
- Support and manage third party evaluation and competitive analysis of Sophos products and manage the review and production of reports
- Interpret and evaluate research data and develop integrated analyses, reports and projections
- Manage a consolidated inventory of competitive research for the use of product management and other interested parties
- Build and maintain a test lab for the purpose of evaluation of competitive products
- Develop and deliver competitive materials, competitive presentations and webcasts
- Respond quickly to competitive actions; interpret and report in a timely fashion to support the needs of the business
Experience and skills
Essential:
- Installing, analyzing and summarizing competitive packages feature sets for multiple audiences
- Analyzing and commenting on strategic direction of a number of competing companies
- Ability to install, configure and maintain UNIX and Windows operating systems and software applications
Desirable:
- Managing third party relationships for outsourced competitive research
- Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques and tools
