Trojans for iPhones
Following our recent poll after the release of the Apple iPhone in Europe where 64% of respondents said they “would” hack their iPhone to install applications, news has reached us of a malicious application that ‘messes up’ a number of applications on the iPhone.
The package called “iPhone firmware 1.1.3 prep” was allegedly written by an 11 yr old boy. The package has subsequently been removed.
This is no real surprise considering how popular the iPhone has become, and how big a challenge is was seen to be to create applications for it when Apple didn’t offer support for third parties. Once again, the “User vulnerability” has been successfully exploited.
