Guest blog: Explore the anatomy of an attack
Guest blogger James Lyne has tied me up with bedsheets in order to hijack the Clu-blog for a minute. Below you'll find a blatant advert for an event he's involved in at Sophos's HQ in Oxfordshire. Take it away James..![]()

Next week on Wednesday (3rd June 2009) we are hosting an Anatomy of Attack session at Sophos's UK HQ in Abingdon.
The session shows the modern malware attack from the hackers and the end users perspective, demonstrating how systems are compromised and what kinds of things can happen once they are.
We will explore web threats (SQL injection, XSS, IFRAMEs etc), file exploits and the command and control capabilities included in today's stealthy and fast evolving malware.
This demonstration serves to elucidate how many of the defences enterprises cling to are outdated and offer practical best protection advice.
If you want to understand more about what 'the threat' means today and how your systems may be at risk come along to this free and informative technical session!
I recorded a brief podcast with Carole Theriault which describes some of the things that we'll be talking about at the seminar. Give it a listen, and then register for the event.
